My favorite place to stay on Disney property is Bay Lake Tower (BLT). It is located within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom and has the most wonderful views of Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon – not to mention Cinderella’s Castle. Staying at BLT provides you will all of the amenities of Disney’s Contemporary Resort (CR) which includes various restaurants and shops, monorail, boat, and bus transportation, and lake-related recreational activities.
BLT and The Contemporary are connected by a sky-bridge located on the 4th floor of CR (which is the same floor that houses Chef Mickey’s) and the 5th floor of BLT. You will need your Magic Band for access to the sky-bridge.
In addition to convenience, the sky-bridge provides a fantastic view of Magic Kingdom and fireworks. However, it can be quite windy and small children will have trouble looking over the safety wall.
IMO, the BEST part of staying at BLT or CR is the walking trail that connects the resort to Magic Kingdom. You can start your day with a cheerful stroll of excitement to Main Street, USA. At the end of the day, you can bypass the long bus lines and crowds of the monorail and ferry. Even though you may be exhausted, nothing perks you up like thinking, “ha ha suckers – I can see and walk to my resort!”
The overall atmosphere of the BLT is modern, dare I say, contemporary. But, there’s also a zen-like quality that is most welcome after a day at the parks. There’s even a BLT “smell” that is reminiscent of every spa I have ever been to.
The pool at BLT is a “non-hopping” pool, but there is also another swimming area at CR.
Among the amenities is the nighttime water pageant.
Chef Mickey’s is located on the 4th Floor of CR. It’s an awesome way to begin or end your day.
There’s just no other resort in the world like Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
